Andrew Wilks

Second-year student, BSc Business and Service Industry Management

After transferring to Essex from another university, I was apprehensive about how I would settle into a new environment. After looking around the University for the first time, I realised I had nothing to worry about.

With visions of a future career in the service industry in management, the choice to study the degree was simple, and having lived in the area before I knew that the location was not going to be a problem.

As a student, whether you are simply shopping on the High Street or on a night out clubbing, you feel equally accepted as part of the community in Southend. My first year studies have been hugely enjoyable and rewarding. I have especially liked the module Business Economics as it has given me the opportunity to expand on the knowledge I learnt and enjoyed at A-level.

The lectures and seminars have enabled me to establish friendly relationships with my lecturers and tutors, and have created the ideal environment for me to continue with my studies.
