Weigao China Research Group
In 2006, Shandong Weigao Group established a unique China Business Research
Project at the Essex Business School, University of Essex,
Southend campus. The aim of the research group is to carry out in depth case
study based and other research in the fields of international business and
strategy related to Chinese business in Europe and UK - Chinese business links.
Initial funding has been provided by Shandong Weigao Group Medical Polymer
Products Ltd. Co. in order to establish a Research Group. The work of Research
Group will concentrate on high technology industries and in particular the
medical devices, hearth care, bio-technology and information technology sectors.
The objective of this work is to find high quality research and development
academic resources and learning materials. The Weigao Research Group is part of
the Centre for Entrepreneurship Centre of the Essex Business School.
Shandong Weigao Group Medical Polymer Product Ltd., Co. is one of the leading
Chinese medical device producers. The medical device market in China is expected
to grow at approximately 20% per year until 2010. The Weigao Group has not only
strong manufacturing capability to capitalise on this trend, but also a strong
distribution network, making it an attractive partner for companies trying to
enter the Chinese market. In addition, the company has good relationships with
the government authorities as they have been granted the exclusive rights to
commercialise technology developed by Chinese Academy of sciences. The company
