Internationalising Entrepreneurial Clusters
The
Internationalising Entrepreneurial Clusters
project is concerned with establishing working links between a network of
business and institutions in specific business clusters, selected jointly by the
lead institutions in partner countries. The project has been designed as a
unique platform for business-to-business activity, and university-industry
interaction for regional development within growing, international business
clusters.
March 2007 saw the conclusion of the
Entrepreneurship Research
Project; an extensive investigation into the factors that contribute to the
creation and sustenance of an 'entrepreneurial culture' in Thames Gateway South
Essex. The project aimed to make to substantial contribution towards our
understanding of the dynamics of entrepreneurial activity in South-Essex, and
how effective policy interventions can therefore be developed to facilitate
local business-led regeneration.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Research is currently undertaking a research
project examining the growth of entrepreneurial opportunities and industry along
particular growth corridors in South-Essex: A127 Development
Corridor. A particular focus of this work is on the issue of skills
mismatches within the sub-regional labour market and the implications of this
for future industry development and patterns of inward investment.
This EBRD Global Cities project entitled
“Lighthouses†was initiated by the European Bank for Reconstruction (EBRD) and
is a multi-agency initiative designed to help local governments leverage the
benefits of the information society.
The project investigates on the potential economic impact of the expansion of
London Southend Airport. Funded by the EEDA
and Renaissance Southend, the research will address specifically new business
formation and employment prospects in the local economy of Southend in key
