Centre for Entrepreneurship Research
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Research (CER) is a well-established research
centre at Essex Business School (EBS), University of Essex, one of the leading
research institutions in the UK. It focuses on research and knowledge exchange
activities in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation, an important part of
the
University's research, teaching and knowledge transfer portfolio. The Centre's
main aim is to provide a forum for excellence in entrepreneurship research and
dissemination concentrating on varied aspects of new venture creation, entrepreneurial business growth, internationalisation, marketing, social
enterprise and the impact of entrepreneurship on regional and local economic
development.
The Centre builds on the research portfolio of all academic staff of the
Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Global Strategy (MEGS) of
Essex Business School (EBS), and
supports the work of research students and a group of international associates.
CER has already established working links with similar centres in the UK, US,
China, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Lithuania and Poland. It houses
the well-established
International Entrepreneurship Forum and has close working
links with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and its Local Employment and Economic
Development (LEED) Programme. Strong international, organisational and
industry links (in the UK, China and India) have contributed to the development
of new areas of activity on China's business links, and technology-based
entrepreneurship. The Centre is supported by a group of
Senior Enterprise Fellows made up of acclaimed researchers, industry
practitioners and policy makers from leading institutions and organisations
around the world.
Research interests
CER's research interests have been organised along two platforms:
1) a broad generic platform covering business management issues, and
2) a specific, focused Centre for Entrepreneurship Research (CER) which
supports research into entrepreneurship and innovation.
The generic platform is loosely organised to account for individual research
interests including:
- Entrepreneurial management;
- Marketing; International business;
- Organisational behaviour;
- Human resources; and
- Economic regeneration.
CER provides a focus on various aspects of new venture creation, innovative
growth, and the impact of entrepreneurship on regional economic development. For
