Research at Essex Business School

Essex Business School has an international reputation for cutting edge research in Accounting, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship. Our reputation was confirmed in the results of the 2008 RAE.

Both theoretical and applied research can be found in Essex Business School. Much of our research addresses important issues and problems faced by commercial businesses, public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations.

LATEST NEWS: Congratulations to Prof Jay Mitra and the International Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, which has won 2 prestigious national awards for outstanding research (best refereed papers) at the UK's leading annual conference on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The below papers were awarded "Best Refereed Papers" at the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference in November.
  • 'Egocentric Network Analysis of Personal Networks and Growth Aspirations of Ethnic Minority Female Entrepreneurs: The Case of Immigrant and British Born Pakistani Female Entrepreneurs' by Jay Mitra and Asma Rauf
  • 'Managing R&D for Innovation and the Strategic Deployment of Knowledge Workers in Technology-Driven Organizations: A Case Study from India' by S. Roy, IMT, India and Jay Mitra
These papers are examples of collaborative work between academics and recently graduated doctoral students at Essex and between peers in partner institutions in different countries.
