Frequently Asked Questions
The number of components at each Stage of undergraduate study ranges from 4
to 8, and students are awarded credit when they have achieved the learning
outcomes within a component. Each component may consist of one module of either
15 or 30 credits, or of two 15-credit modules which share learning outcomes. As
learning outcomes are shared, the component as a whole must be passed (i.e. both
contributory module marks are taken together to arrive at the component mark).
For further information, see
Learning outcomes.
- Can I take my re-sits abroad?
Students who have re-sit/voluntary re-sit examinations in September can be
permitted to take these re-sit examinations away from the University at an
approved overseas institution. This is a special dispensation and there is no
right of the student to re-sit overseas. Candidates taking holidays abroad are
NOT eligible to sit their examinations abroad. Full information can be
found at resits.
- What is EBS' Reassessment policy?
Reassessment is by examination only
a) If you have failed your coursework (mark below 40) then
your re-sit examination mark will count for 100% of the module aggregate. This
means you must obtain the pass mark in your re-sit exam to pass the module;
b) If you have passed your coursework (mark over 40) then
your re-sit examination mark will be re-aggregated with the coursework mark so
that you are not disadvantaged. This means that you may be able to pass the
module on aggregate with a lower re-sit examination mark, but the module
aggregate must add up to 40.
