Entrepreneurship and Innovation
1. Innovation Voucher
Prof Jay Mitra recently delivered a consultancy project for a local business
who was planning to set up a membership organisation called the Organisation for
Responsible Businesses. The essential remit of this is to champion Corporate
Social Responsibility at the grass roots level. Prof Mitra, with support from
one of his PhD student, designed a membership questionnaire that would form a
basis for recruiting members, but most importantly, tailored it accordingly so
that it fit into current CSR legislation and captured relevant CSR information.
The Innovation Voucher (3000) was an initiative from EEDA aiming to support
local businesses to take advantage of certain expertise in Universities.
2. Low Carbon Voucher
Dr Sena Ozdemir has now completed her consultancy project with a small
enterprise which is a web-based business faced difficulties in increasing
awareness of their presence and services. The essence of the project was to
develop a marketing strategy to address those issues.
Specific objectives of the project included the following:
- Finding out the optimum ways to increase customers' awareness about the
new service through online social networks;
- Identifying the most popular online social networks for the company's
target market;
- Developing online marketing strategies to reach the targeted segments
most effectively through social networking websites; and
- Identifying the future trends of using online social networks for
marketing purposes.
The low Carbon Voucher (1000) was also a scheme from EEDA aiming to help
SMEs connect with the East of England Universities.
