Dignity and Respect

Dignity and Respect means different things to all of us, for some it means someone being polite, being treated fairly or just acknowledgement the validity of differing views on any given topic.

The University of Essex fosters an environment of Dignity and Respect. We recognise that this can only be achieved through staff, students and other members of our community working together towards a safe, inclusive and healthy environment.

The purpose of the Dignity & Respect group

The Dignity & Respect group exists to:

  • Promote behaviour which represents dignity and respect of self and of others
  • Encourage stakeholders to engage with the Dignity & Respect agenda
  • Drive inclusion through community collaboration
  • Reinforce and compliment existing organizational and community inclusion efforts
  • Share best practices related to local and national inclusion awareness campaigns and initiatives
  • Provide and develop tools, resources, and solutions to build community unity and raise awareness of dignity and respect through all forms of communication

How you can contribute

The Dignity and Respect group invites all stakeholders to take ownership and to contribute their ideas and suggestions in any of the following ways:

Together we can help protect and enhance the community environment that makes the University such a great place in which to study and work.
