Pervasive Systems Research Group

Fact File

The Pervasive Systems covers ubiquitous networked embedded hardware/software, to provide an application and information rich environment.

  • Intelligent Environments are those which adapt by sensing and responding to context in order to satisfy objectives.  The research is internationally leading in developing compact embedded-agents, using novel computational-intelligence-based approaches, applied to inhabited and industrial-control environments. More information.

  • Pervasive Networks and Services brings together complementary interests in heterogeneous networking, service provisioning frameworks.

  • Embedded Systems research concentrates on novel computer and embedded systems architectures. This includes embedded microcontroller processor cores with novel architectures combining high performance with full signal processing capabilities. More information

The group is exploring user-acceptability of pervasive technologies through a new interdisciplinary Centre for Digital Lifestyles with Chimera (a research institute combining the social and technological sciences).
