Centre for Computational Intelligence
Our Centre's fields of interest are in the theory, design, application and development of biologically, socially and
linguistically motivated computational paradigms. Our emphasis is on genetic algorithms, evolutionary programming, fuzzy
systems, neural networks, connectionist systems and hybrid intelligent systems in which these paradigms are contained.
We bring together experts from biological sciences, social sciences, mathematical sciences, entrepreneurship and business
as well as computer sciences and engineering.
Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents
We are an innovative, interdisciplinary and laboratory based teaching and research Centre which is a showcase for cutting edge
computational and evolutionary methods to simulate markets with artificially intelligent agents and to design real time trading and
risk management systems.
Centre for Assisted Living Technologies
The CALT centre’s mission is to meet the societal challenges associated with the rapid changes in the age profile
in the UK population and those associate with disability by creating new powerful assisted living technologies which
people will really need and want. These technologies are universally recognised to have an immense potential to help
the elderly, the disabled and the injured to become/stay independent and economically active, recover more quickly,
and achieve a better quality of life.
