Postgraduate Taught Degrees

Our Masters degrees can be taken either full-time for one year or part-time over two years. They combine formal instruction with a supervised project which forms the basis of a dissertation.

Our degrees are divided into two broad categories:

Computer Science MSc degrees

These degrees allow you to carry out specialised study in one of a range of topics, and all require a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Telecommunications and Data Communications MSc degrees

These degrees build upon Essex’s long-standing reputation in this area, and require a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.

Furthermore, the School is home to the Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents which offers Master level degree courses in Computational Finance and related areas.

If you are keen to study Computer Science or Electronic Engineering at Postgraduate level but feel you need a detailed introduction to the subject, Essex's International Academy offers Graduate Diplomas in these two subjects that can be used as preparation for application to our MSc Degrees.

See the FAQ page for details of English language requirements, fees, and other information.

The University of Essex now offers its graduates and its former study abroad students a ten per discount on their first year of tuition fee for postgraduate study see Essex Loyalty Discount for more details.
