How We Work with Industry
We work with industry in three main ways:
-
Research Projects sponsored by industry or in which there is
industrial involvement but the main funding comes from a research council, such
as EPSRC Case Awards and
Industrial CASE Awards, or the EU.
-
Knowledge transfer partnerships (KTP's) in which the funding comes from
the Department of Trade and Industry and the partner company. These are
negotiated through our Research and
Enterprise Office who will in the first instance discuss a project with a
potential partner and one or more members of academic staff. If the
project is to be taken further, they will also prepare the formal application
for funding, and if this is successful, will assist with the administration of
the project. Since the involvement of one or more academic staff is
essential, potential partners may also start the process by talking to a
suitable member of academic staff if they can identify one (see our list of
research interests, for example).
-
Consultancy contracts. These may be negotiated with individual
academic staff, or through the
Research and Enterprise Office.
