Freshers' Week saw the presentation of prizes to last year's first
and second year students by the Head of School, Dr Maria Fasli.
First Year Prizes
Four K. F. Bowden Memorial Prizes, in memory of a
former professor, are awarded to first year undergraduate students.
These prizes are awarded on the recommendation of the First Year
Examinations Committee to the four first year students with the best
overall year mark. Each prize is worth £250.

The Martin Waite Memorial Prize winner is awarded a
£50 book voucher.

The O’Reilly Academic Prize is awarded to the first
year student who achieves the best overall average mark in either the
Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering themes.
The prize-winner receives a book voucher worth £100.

Second Year Prizes
The Devdas Korappath Gopel Prize, in memory of a
former student, is awarded to the student with the most outstanding
performance in BSc Computer Science (Software Engineering). The
prize is worth £100.
The prize winner:
Mr Razvan S Muscalu, BSc Software Engineering
The Frank Thilo Prize is awarded to the best second
year BSc student on the following schemes on the basis of academic
achievement: BSc Computer Science, BSc Computer Science
(Artificial Intelligence), BSc Computer Science (Software Engineering),
BSc Computer Science (Embedded Systems and Robotics), BSc Computer
Science (Internet Technology). The prize-winners receive a cheque
for £125 and a BCS student annual membership voucher. The prize
was presented by Mr Ben Demes.

Miss Zhanar Abuova, BSc Computer Science
Mr Matthew Rooney, BSc Computer Games
Institute of Engineering and Technology Anglian Coastal
Network Prize for achieving the highest aggregate mark on a
BEng degree programme. The prize winner receives £150. The prize
was presented by Dr Mick Mehler.
