esrc studentships for 2012-13 entry

The University is offering 16 ESRC fully-funded
studentships worth up to £18,000 for talented
postgraduates within the Doctoral Training
Centre. Collaborative co-funded
studentships are also available. All
studentships are open to Home and EU students.

iet anglian coastal network technical
presentation competition

This year's competition will be held on
Thursday 8th March at 6.30 pm in 1N1.4.1.
Participants should give a 10-minute technical
presentation to a small audience. There
are 2 prizes, one of £150 and one of £75.
Both the winner and runner-up will also receive
a year's free membership of the IET and the
winners name may be forwarded for consideration
for presentation in the IET worldwide "Present
Around the World" final. If interested

phd success

|
John
Oyekan has passed his PhD with minor editorial
corrections. John successfully completed
his PhD research in 3 years, funded by an EPSRC
DTA Research Studentship. The title of his
thesis is "Visual mapping of invisible
substances using Unicellular Swarm Intelligence"
and has published 13 conference and journal
papers based on his research findings. He
has worked as a part-time research officer on EU
SHOAL project and made a good contribution.
John was supervised by Prof Huosheng Hu and his
examiners were Prof Alan Winfield (UWE) and Prof
John Gan (Essex). Many congratulations to
John!
