The University Court
The Court of the University of Essex is a formal body, established under
Charter and Statutes, which serves a number of functions.
There is an annual meeting of the Court held in the Easter vacation which
receives a report from the Vice-Chancellor on the workings of the University
since the last meeting and the annual audited Statement of Accounts of the
University.
The annual meeting is also an informal social occasion for members of the
Court to meet each other and senior members of the University staff.
Over and above these official functions, the Court also exists to encourage
people in the local region to have an active interest in the University, to be
formally associated with it and to give them an opportunity to comment on
University affairs.
