About The Council
The University Council is the executive governing body of the University,
responsible for the management and administration of the revenue and property of
the University.
The Council is entrusted with the proper conduct of University business in
support of the objectives defined by the University Charter and Statutes;
strategic planning; financial affairs, including the annual budget; estates
management; staffing matters; health and safety issues, and oversight of the
Students' Union.
Council normally meets four times a year. The current Chair of Council is
Lord Currie of Marylebone, (Pro-Chancellor). There are 25 members; the
majority of
Council members are
external. The University Registrar and Secretary acts as Secretary to Council.
