Regional AttractionsHistoric Colchester is a thriving town offering some of the finest leisure facilities in eastern England, including Rollerworld, Aqua Springs and Highwoods Country Park. Known as the cultural capital of Essex, Colchester has museums, galleries, an arts centre, a theatre and a multi-screen cinema. The local area offers many attractions such as Constable Country, the countryside which inspired John Constable, historic buildings and gardens, including Beth Chatto Gardens and Layer Marney Tower; and animal collections at Colchester Zoo. Colchester also boasts the Essex coastline on its doorstep, offering locations such as the picturesque waterfront town of Brightlingsea, the maritime heritage centre in Wivenhoe, and Maldon, the home of the culinary sea salt. The seaside town of Frinton offers peace and tranquillity, whilst Clacton and Walton have entertainment and amusements for all the family. Local information elsewhere on the web:
