Travel and Location, Colchester CampusSituated within easy reach of historic Colchester, Constable Country and the coast, the University of Essex offers the ideal location for conferences and events and accommodation for groups or individual travellers. A direct rail link to London Liverpool Street station enables access to the heart of the capital in under an hour. Stansted Airport is only an hour's drive away and there is a regular shuttle service offering direct transport to and from the University. There is also good road access from all parts of the country. As part of our service we provide organisers with event specific maps to direct their delegates straight to their registration, main plenary and accommodation. By CarIf approaching the University from London and the South via the A12, take the exit marked Colchester Central. If approaching from Ipswich and the North on the A12, take the exit marked Colchester. Follow the signs to the University. Once on campus you should follow the signs to the Visitors Car Park. You may park in any of the car parks providing you are displaying a valid parking permit. By TrainTrains run between London (Liverpool Street) and Colchester (North Station) at approximately half-hourly intervals; the journey takes under an hour. Services also connect with Colchester from Norwich, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Harwich and Clacton/Walton. (National Rail Enquiries Online.) By CoachRegular Services to Colchester Bus Station operate from most parts of Britain, either direct or through London. The X22 is an hourly service which runs between the University and Stansted Airport. (Firstgroup buses.) By TaxiThere are taxi ranks at Colchester North Station, Colchester Bus Station and in the town centre.
