There are number of varied and exciting events taking place around all three of our campuses, including exhibitions and performances at our arts and theatre venues. Check out the events diary to find out what's coming soon.

Southend Campus

The Forum is a unique partnership between the University, Southend Borough Council and South Essex College, providing a state-of-the-art library and learning facilities in the heart of Southend. This partnership also includes a range of public events in The Forum, including public lectures, author talks and the Essex Book Festival.

Our Southend Campus is home to the Clifftown Theatre and Studios, housed in a stunning converted gothic church which has been sympathetically renovated to incorporate five large studios, two seminar rooms, a wardrobe department, props store and workshop, foyer bar and a state-of-the-art, 200-seat theatre.

East 15 Acting School

The theatre also provides a base for our East 15 Acting School and community facilities. The School is also actively engaged in the community. Activities include public workshops, arts taster sessions, outreach youth work and specific themed or community performances and projects, such as the Pandemonium Street Theatre Festival.

The Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA) holds exhibitions in the Beecroft Art Gallery. Find out about the latest exhibition, Connecting through Collecting: 20 years of Art from Latin American at the University of Essex.

The Focal Point Gallery is located in The Forum and produces art exhibitions both in and outside The Forum building.

Loughton Campus

Our Loughton Campus is home to our East 15 Acting School based around Hatfields, a beautiful Georgian dower house, offering state-of-the-art studios, technical equipment and theatre space. The Corbett Theatre at East 15 is housed in a medieval tithe barn, providing an unusual and unique space for public productions.
