There are number of varied and exciting events taking place around all three of our campuses, including exhibitions and performances at our arts and theatre venues. Check out the events diary to find out what's coming soon.

For many years the University of Essex has played a major part in the county's cultural life, providing a wide range of events and supporting major events such as the Essex Book Festival. Essex is also unique among UK universities by having a theatre at each of its three campuses.

Our Lakeside Theatre hosts drama, dance, comedy and music events which are open to the public. They are also a focus for workshops and school activities.

Our art gallery Art Exchange is one of the region’s leading galleries of contemporary art, showing the work of internationally renowned artists, while also supporting emerging talent.

The Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA) is the largest public collection of its kind in Europe and is on display in the Albert Sloman Library, the parkland around our Colchester Campus and firstsite, the major arts facility in Colchester.

The University of Essex Choir has developed a reputation for high quality and inspirational performances and is widely recognised as one of the foremost large ensembles in the east of England. Founded in 1977 and numbering about 130 singers, membership is drawn from staff and students of the University and from the local community.
