Resources - Student Support

The Centre has a system for offering support to students. You may go to any member of staff to discuss problems that affect your academic performance. The Director of Latin American Studies, Gladis Garcia-Soza can assist you if you have any problems.

Academic Advisers will offer:

  • The opportunity for contact between students and departmental teaching staff, to provide you with the opportunity to raise academic problems and personal issues that might be affecting your academic progress
  • Assisting you in finding sources of further information and help in the University
  • Providing you with access to a member of staff who understands the academic procedures, curricula and assessment requirements of your degree scheme and can answer questions related to the degree, course options and other academic concerns

In case of academic problems academic advisers will (if you request it) accompany you at Progress meetings and interviews with the Dean of the School, but not at Disciplinary proceedings. Staff are encouraged to refer students whose difficulties are clearly not of an academic nature and who would be better served by the University’s specialist advisers or counsellors, to those services.

Further information is also available on the Student Support website.
