The University's charity information
The University of Essex is an exempt charity subject to the provisions of
the Charities Act 2006. From 1 June 2010 the Higher Education Funding
Council for England (HEFCE) became the principal regulator for all higher
education institutions (HEIs) in England that are exempt charities. All HEIs
with exempt charity status are required to publish the following information
on their websites:
- The legal name and correspondence address of the HEI (see below);
- The main constitutional documents of the HEI;
- The names of its trustees, together with other relevant
information: list of charities of which they are trustees;
disclosure of any payments made; related party transactions.
- The full audited consolidated financial statements from
2009/10 onwards.
