Staff-Student Liaison Committee
Student Representatives 2010/11
The Staff Student Liaison Committees (SSLC) meet once a term and provide a forum for you to give feedback on your experience of the Centre,
raising concerns or suggestions. One elected student representative is deputised to attend the Centre’s staff meeting, which is held twice a
term with members of the teaching staff. The student representatives play an essential role in conveying student needs and opinions within
the Department.
In addition the rep nominated to attend the staff meetings also attends the
Graduate School Liaison Committee.
There are also additional sources of support available on campus:
Student Support can offer advice on funding, debt, welfare issues and employment and visa issues for International Students. It also includes
the disability team for information and advice on academic support for those with a disability; and provides access to professional counsellors
through the Counselling Service.
The Students' Union Advice Centre gives advice on such matters as money management, housing contracts and problems, legal issues and visa renewals.
The University of Essex Counselling Service.
