Human Rights Centre
The Human Rights Centre is comprised of Law Department staff,
together with University of Essex philosophers and political
theorists who work on human rights issues, and have extensive
practical experience of international human rights work with
organisations such as the United Nations, Amnesty International
and Article 19.
Children’s Legal Centre
The Centre opened in 1981, and is a unique, independent national
charity, concerned with the law and policy affecting children
and young people, staffed by lawyers and professionals with
experience in child law. They offer an Advice and Information
Service, an Education Legal Advocacy Unit, and undertake Policy
and Campaigning Work in addition to Research and Consultancy.
CLC works with Eastern European States in the reform of child

Centre for Environment and Society
CES is a new interdisciplinary research centre engaged in a wide
range of basic, applied and action-orientated environmental
research; capacity development, teaching and training; and
outreach through publications, seminars and prizes. The
geographical focus of its work ranges from the local to national
and international, and covers both industrialised and developing
countries.

European Consortium for Political Research
This consortium was formed in 1970 by representatives of eight
political science institutions in Europe, it has now grown to
233 universities, institutes and research centres around the
globe. Its aim is to provide a strong base and infrastructure to
help scholars in their research, particularly by fostering
co-operation and by creating a network of political scientists
in Europe - and beyond.

r.cade - Research Centre for Access to Data on Europe
This is a resource centre within the Data Archive , providing
access to integrated data provided by international agencies and
statistical services. They are a single point of delivery for
quality controlled statistics, focusing primarily on policy
research, and market needs in Europe relevant for local
government, enterprise agencies, government departments,
researchers, information departments and library services,
retailers and market researchers, the media, value added re-sellers.The
Archive is also a member of CESSDA (The Counci of Europe Social
Science Data Archives) and from their web site it is possible to
search the European Integrated Data Catalogue in order to obtain
