Essex Interns

Our Internships Team is here to help you find paid practical work experience with local, national and even international employers. We can help you find internships:

  • during your studies; and
  • for up to three years after you graduate.

Internships can be part-time whilst you study, or full-time outside of term-time and on graduation, and can vary in length from around six weeks to up to 12 months.

All of our internships are paid, so you will also earn while you work.

Join the scheme

You can join the scheme by filling in a registration form (.doc) and emailing it with a copy of your CV to internships@essex.ac.uk.

Once you have joined, if we receive a new vacancy that you may be interested in we will email the details to you. It is then up to you to decide if you would like to apply. We cannot promise that we will find opportunities in your specific field – but we do work hard to encourage employers to offer internships in a broad spectrum of subjects.

We also advertise all of our internships on Facebook, and there may be opportunities listed that don’t get sent out to you. Make sure you ‘like’ our Facebook and get in contact with us if you see an internship that you would like more information about: www.facebook.com/internshipsessex. Essex Interns is also on Twitter: @EssexInterns.

The value of internships

Undertaking an internship can help you build your confidence, develop workplace skills, apply your knowledge in a practical workplace setting, prove yourself to an employer, and can substantially boost your employment prospects. Completing an internship even after you graduate can give you the edge in the job market, and allow you to try out different career options.

“My experience with Coram was amazing! I have worked with real professionals and was given real work. I was given the opportunity to make suggestions to ongoing projects and to implement some of my ideas. It definitely felt like a real job with responsibilities and duties, but also with a fun and supportive office environment.”
Ileana - Sinziana Puscas BA Politics and Politics and Modern Languages undergraduate intern with Coram Childrens Legal Centre
