Other places to look for part-time work As an international student it is important to check what your passport sticker (entry clearance or residence permit) or identity card says before seeking employment. If you are able to work whilst you are studying in the UK the hours you can work and the type of work you are able to do will be restricted. Some students may not be allowed to work at all whilst studying in the UK. More information is available from Student Support. The University of Essex recommends to its students that they work no more than fifteen (15) hours per week, as any more hours can interfere with their studies. Where vacancies display hours of more than fifteen per week, applications and acceptance of working hours are at the discretion of the student.
