What job is right for me?

It's not easy making decisions about what to do with the rest of your life and it's likely that just shutting your eyes and hoping it will go away won't work...

So what do you do next? For most people, career planning involves three kinds of activity:

Developing self awareness click to expand section

Know yourself - think about your values, skills and interests

Use career matching programmes or guidebooks to take a good look at your skills, interests and personality.

Prospects Planner a career matching programme available on the Prospects website. To use it, you will need to register with My Prospects.

Windmills Virtual Careers Coach offers unique help with managing your career through a range of online exercises and activities.

Your Degree ... what next? a booklet designed to help you in your decision-making. You can pick up a copy from the Careers Service or read the online version here.

Destinations Take a look at the sections on Interests, Personality, Skills, Values and Managing Your Career on Destinations. (Please note that Destinations is only available on networked computers on the University campus.)

One-to-one meetings appointments with a Careers Adviser for registered students or recent graduates of the University of Essex.
