Advertising work

• The Careers Centre is able to post vacancies for registered companies and charities only. We research each organisation at Companies House and The Charity Commission.

• We regret that we are unable to post vacancies for private individuals.

• In general, the more information you can provide about the duties of the position you are advertising, the qualifications and the experience you are seeking in candidates, the working hours, and other job particulars the more likely that suitable applicants will apply.

• Please ensure that you complete all the required fields on the online form.

• Campus departments may wish to set a short posting timeframe so as not to be inundated with applications.

• Vacancies can be re-advertised if a suitable candidate is not found initially.

• We cannot post a vacancy unless a specific rate of pay is provided, and the rate of pay must be at the National Minimum Wage or higher.

• We regret that we are unable to post positions that are commission based only.

• We regret that we are unable to post unpaid positions except for charities registered in the UK.

• For privacy and security reasons we will not support application processes that require students to provide a photo or original documents during the initial application phase.

• If we have concerns about your vacancy we will contact you to clarify any issues that are raised.

• The Careers Centre ultimately reserves the right to refuse to post any vacancy that it deems to be unsafe or unsuitable for students.

• We also reserve the right to remove any vacancy if it is determined that an organisation has misrepresented themselves or any aspect of the application process or work involved.

• Please note that a very small percentage of students under the age of 18 register at the University each year. Please exercise due care to ensure that specific legal requirements related to the employment of persons aged under 18 are met.

Additional Guidelines for Employment Agencies

• The Careers Centre only accepts vacancies from recruitment agencies if the name of the client is declared in the “Employer” field of the vacancy form. This information will be shown to jobseekers.

• Vacancies can be re-posted after three weeks.
