Improvement programmes
We are developing new approaches to improve the services and support we
offer to our students and staff. This page will outline some of the latest
programmes.
FASer introduced as part of Making Electronic Feedback Effective
(MEFE)
Our Online Coursework Submission system (OCS) will be undergoing some major
changes during 2013-14 to to improve the experience for our students by
improving our systems for e-submission, e-feedback, and e-marking.
The changes are part of the Making Electronic Feedback Effective project
(MEFE) – which is linked to our wider Assessment and Feedback step change
programme.
As part of this change the existing OCS name will be changing to Feedback, Assessment, Submission electronic repository (FASer)
- pronounced faser or fazer. Our
latest project blog post
explains the name change and what this means for staff.
This is one of many developments this summer, other milestones that should be
complete by the end of summer also include:
- Changes to the website structure including more
navigation buttons
- A “one assignment, one entry” system which aims to
reduce workload for our departmental administrators
More information on these changes and others are also outlined in our project
blog post on
Making electronic feedback effective: 10 things that will be changing in OCS
and we will be adding regular for updates.

MEFE project overview
The MEFE project is being led by Learning and Development and is championed
by Professor Jane Wright, Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Standards. It is centred
on three themes; assessment and feedback good practice, e-marking, e-feedback
and e-assessment and the Learning and Technology Team’s own ideas for
development of our online services.
