Brightlingsea Watersports and Yacht Club

Following refurbishment during spring and summer the University’s sailing clubhouse at Brightlingsea re-opened during July 2011.

This Grade 2 listed clubhouse is owned by the University of Essex and operated by the Brightlingsea Watersports and Yacht Club (BWYC) which has independent charitable trust status.

This facility and the nearby boatyard are available for use by members of the public and University of Essex students and staff who wish to join the BWYC (with no additional charge for members of the University’s Passport to Sport scheme).

As a vibrant, newly-formed club BWYC aims to cater for beginners, enthusiasts and experienced sailors alike, and taster sessions and coaching schemes are planned. Activities offered by the club include yachting, dinghy sailing, kayaking, rowing and windsurfing.
