The Marine Sciences Research Group has strengths in the complementary areas of environmental microbiology, biogeochemical cycling, aerosols, marine ecology and marine ecosystem function. A recurrent theme is to understand how responses at the cellular level (molecular, physiological) inform of environmental processes that operate across large scales (coastal and ocean biogeochemistry, biodiversity). Therefore, many aspects of our research consider the form and function of aquatic systems as a result of climate change that has been predicted.
A wide range of national and international research projects currently operate. These projects are funded through national government grant agencies, the European Union as well as multinational non-governmental organisations. Below are maps of both the world and the UK to allow you to browse our research sites, simply click on a location to find out more.
