Colchester is easy to reach by road, rail, air or ferry and is conveniently located for Stansted Airport and Harwich Ferry Port. You can find details of how to get to the University here and the visit Colchester website provides further travel details.

Information on the X22 bus service from Stansted Airport to the University of Essex, Colchester can be found at first bus, and is explained on the University Arrivals page. Please check whether the bus is scheduled to stop at the University; if not get off at North Station and take another bus or taxi.

For those flying into Gatwick or Heathrow Airports, use the link to plan your train-journey. It is also useful to download a map of the London underground (the tube). Please note that the mainline railway station in Colchester is called 'Colchester North' station. This is located about 3 miles from the University. It is probably easiest to take a taxi (max £10) or the following buses: 61, 74, 74B, 78, 78A. You can find details of how to get to the University here.

Rail engineering works on Sunday 2nd September between London (Liverpool Street) and Colchester North Stations: For those travelling from London by train on the Sunday please note that there will be a replacement bus instead of a train from London Liverpool Street station. I'm afraid that this will extend your travelling time. The information should be provided on the National Rail web site: http://ojp1.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/jd2. The rail service will resume as normal during the week.

A map of the University campus can be found here showing the location of the conference venue and the conference accommodation.

Once you are here, you can use the bus service to get into Colchester and surrounding villages; alternatively a taxi journey from the University into Colchester costs around £7. The on-site Conference Reception can provide useful information about travel and local tourist attractions.
