Young scientist grants Each country has its own organisations that provide funds for attendance at conferences, for example the Royal Society in the UK. There are also numerous societies, microbiological and other, that may have funds available. This meeting has been officially sponsored by NSF, IUBMB and FEMS. The funds from IUBMB have been earmarked for external speakers, but as with many societies IUBMB has a scheme for supporting conference attendance. This is a FEMS-sponsored congress, and so there are some bursaries available from FEMS that will be used at the discretion of the scientific organising committee to reimburse part of the cost for those young scientists (< 36 years at the closing day of the meeting) with a strong scientific record or showing great promise. In order to apply for this the applicant should read the regulations on the FEMS web site, and fill in the FEMS Young Scientists Meeting Grant Application Form, and send it by email to halophiles@essex.ac.uk, and a signed hard copy to the Congress Organiser. The case made on the form and the quality of the Abstract will form the basis of the decision-making process, and there is no guarantee that a bursary will be available. Young Investigator Travel Grants, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), and administered by Westminster College, Salt Lake City, UT The Organizing Committee for Halophiles-2007 is pleased to announce the availability of ten Young Investigator Travel Grants of $1000.00 to American graduate students, undergraduate students, and post-doctoral researchers. If you wish to be considered, please fill out the following form, pay attention to the regulations listed, and submit the form as directed.
