As a University Department we are ideally placed to provide training in a number of areas. We can provide standard training such as European Protected Species survey, water quality monitoring, sampling design through to data analysis and interpretation. All training is to current best practice industry standards by fully qualified staff.

Recent training has included Hazel dormouse ecology & survey, bat activity surveys, reptile survey, great crested newt and amphibian survey, among others.

Hazel Dormouse ecology & survey

This half day course included several hours of interactive lectures about the ecology of the Hazel dormouse and reasons for its decline in the UK. Participants were then introduced to sampling techniques and had a chance to put out and check both nest tubes and nest boxes. This course was designed specifically to meet the needs of a separate monitoring project but indicates how we can develop training courses to meet your needs.
