As part of our undergraduate degree schemes as the University of Essex we teach students ecological survey and assessment techniques and try to give them as much practical experience as possible. This puts
us in an ideal position to undertake surveys for a wide range of clients. We have the expertise and experience to undertake ecological surveys from a simple walkover survey to highlight ecological constraints through to full Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
Survey requirements
Under current UK and EU legislation (e.g. Habitats Regs., 2010, as amended; Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981; CRoW Act, 2000; PPS9) ecology should be a major consideration when planning applications are considered. Therefore detailed ecological assessment is required in advance to ensure planning consent is obtained. This can include translocation, habitat enhancement and creation and other mitigation measures.
The experienced ecologists at EUREKA can undertake numerous types of species and habitat survey to meet these needs, to current best practice standards. Some of the more common surveys we offer include;
| Phase I Habitat survey

| River Corridor |
