Juvenile fish utilization of estuarine intertidal habitats (PhD)
My current research focuses on how juvenile fish inhabit microhabitats in salt marshes as nursery sites, and how tidal, diurnal and seasonal rhythms affect this. This will lead on to how marsh erosion and fragmentation can jeopardise fish use of such ecologically important sites, ultimately threatening any fishery operating there. Similar investigations will be performed with sea grass beds and mangroves in tropical environments, habitats also under threat worldwide. My other interest is in crustacean aquaculture, particularly larval rearing. I graduated with a degree in Oceanography from the University of Southampton, and an MSc with Distinction in Shellfish Biology, Fisheries & Culture from the University of Wales, Bangor.
