Lecture recording services for students

Audiovisual and Media Services (AVMS) will record lectures that take place in the LTB and the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall, if requested by the Student Support Office or by a department.

Portable tape recorders are available for loan from the AVMS Service Desk for lectures outside those buildings.

Copies of recordings are available for sale at the AVMS Service Desk as follows:

  • copy charge, £1.50. This is to cover reproduction costs only.
  • C120 tape, £1.00 . From time to time we can provide second hand tapes in good condition at £0.50 if requested.

The copy charge will be waived for students designated by the Student Support Office. If you feel that you may need help please visit Student Support Office for more information. Alternatively you can find them in Room 4N.6.2 (Colchester Campus). Entrance by the shop in Square 4, up to 6th level, turn right follow the corridor along and the office can be found on the right

 

Request for a Master recording

To initiate a request for a master recording to be made one of the following forms, as appropriate, should be completed and returned to AVMS:

Student Support Office Master Recording Request Form

Academic Departments Master Recording Request Form

All of the following information is required for each lecture before any request can be processed:

  • Student's name
  • Course number
  • Date of lecture and which weeks to record
  • Room (LTB or ICLH) details
  • Time and duration of recording.

AVMS keep a requested lecture master for a whole past academic year. After this period the archive is erased.

Request for Copies of recording

To request a copy of a master recording the procedure is as follows:

  1. A Lecture Recording Copy request slip is filled out in full at the AVMS Service Desk (LTB Foyer) and the full amount is paid in advance.
  2. The pink copy is retained by the customer as proof of purchase or request.
  3. A C120 audio cassette is either supplied by the customer or one is purchased from AVMS. ONLY C120 (2 hrs) tapes will be accepted.
  4. The customer returns after 24 hrs to collect their copy.
