Frontrunners : the student placement scheme
Frontrunners is a unique programme which takes an innovative approach to embedding employability, enterprise and commercial awareness within the student experience. It explicitly links the identification of skills gaps to the acquisition and development of employability skills via paid work placements in the University and a supporting skills programme. It also supports students in developing their ability to reflect on and articulate the skills they have acquired by using the University's personal development planning tool: myLife.

Our approach to Frontrunner scheme differ from a normal work placement in that you are given a chance to lead your own project, we supply you with the resources and support to acquire skills that any business require, and the resulting product will be put in use at AVMS. We do not require special skills but an open minded attitude. Students from all Departments are welcome.
Some of our last Frontrunners have been working in Flash and web development, video recording and editing, brochure graphic and design, information displays, automated system controls, etc...
Final year's Student Project
In the past AVMS has been working with the School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering (CSEE) to provide an alternative view of the final year's student project.
Students from CSEE have chosen a project from a given list that AVMS has interest in. AVMS provide any hardware and support needed and act as a client for the project, providing requirements and constant contact with the student as any client in real life will do. Students can choose to work from his/her own environment, from our workshop (LTB D) or a mix of both.
We would like to extend this idea to any other Department. So please bring your own ideas and we will work together to achieve it.

If you feel that you have an idea related to our equipment and services that could improve our learning and working environment while boosting your CV for your future plans then please bring your own ideas and we will work together to achieve it.
We are open minded and accept new challenges. It doesn't have to be only technology related, it could be business, human interaction, customer service, administration, data mining and presentation, etc...it could be related to your research, studies or simply interest.
