Arts at the University of Essex
The University of Essex aims to offer a varied and active arts
programme which interests students, staff and members of the general
public.
At the Colchester Campus
Arts on 5 organises music, exhibitions and theatre productions
throughout the year. This includes work by students and staff at the
University, as well as professional touring companies. For more
information, visit the Arts on 5 website.
Arts on 5 also arranges exhibitions involving the University of Essex
Collection of Latin American Art. This unique collection reflects
interest across the University in subjects related to Latin America. You
may also be interested in
ARARA, which is an online journal covering the art and architecture
of the Americas.
Other arts events at the University’s Colchester Campus are organised
by the Students’ Union who
are also responsible for
RED, the
Students’ Union radio station.
In addition, the University has a
choir is made up of
staff, students and the local community. The University of Essex Choir
undertakes performances around the region and elsewhere.
At the East 15 (Loughton) Campus
East 15 Acting School students undertake productions throughout the
year, at the Loughton Campus and further afield including London. Most
of these are also open to members of the public so for more information,
see the East 15
website.
At the Southend Campus
The Southend Campus is home to some
East 15 Acting School students who perform their work to
students, staff and the wider community, while the town centre location
of the campus allows it to benefit from
arts
events taking place in and around Southend.
