As part of your
coursework,
whilst studying
with the Centre
for Curatorial Studies
you will have
the opportunity
to produce
exhibitions,
catalogues, symposia,
conferences
and other
curatorial
output.
In the pages
here you will
find details of
exhibitions and
other events
organised and
run by our CCS
students.
Annual CCS
Exhibitions
Each year Centre
for Curatorial
Studies students
who are enrolled
on the MA
Gallery Studies
and Critical
Curating degree
produce an
exhibition for
the public
programme of the
University's
gallery,
Art
Exchange.
These
exhibitions
contribute to Art
Exchange's
programme of
contemporary
art exhibitions.
In past
years students
have worked with
a range of
internationally
renowned
contemporary
artists
including
figures such as
Richard
Wentworth, Jake
& Dinos Chapman,
Pierre Bismuth,
Fischli & Weiss,
Cao Fei, Rafael
Lozanno Hemmer,
Idris Kahn and
many others.
The Contingency
of Curation
In the
past few years
Centre for
Curatorial
Studies students
have
collaborated
with the MA
curating courses
at Chelsea
College of Art &
Design and
Sheffield Hallam
University on
extra curricula
curatorial
activity
producing public
events and
publications.
In 2010 the
MA curating
students from
the three
colleges worked
together to
produce a
conference at
Tate Britain,
London, and a
publication that
explored key
topical issues
in the theory
and practice of
contemporary
curating.
Project Biennale
In 2009, the MA
curating
students of the
three colleges
worked together
to produce an
exhibition in
book form,
Project
BIENNALE, which
was launched at
The Venice
Biennale's
opening week.
Project BIENNALE
is a critical
investigation
into the
peripheral
activities that
extend and
support the
experience of
the phenomenon
that is Biennale
culture.
The book is a
staging of a
series of
encounters that
explore and
develop the
experiential
nature of the
supplementary
events
surrounding the
contemporary art
Biennale.
The contributors
included a range
of professional
curators and
artists:
