"Transnational Latin American Art from 1950 to the Present Day" was a collaborative event organized by the University of Texas at Austin and Meeting Margins (University of Essex and the University of the Arts London) which took place over from the 6th-8th November 2009. It was designed to promote the work of graduate students and emerging scholars. Many of the papers have now been published online and are hosted on the University of Texas at Austin's website.
The forum was an opportunity to interrogate an emergent paradigm exemplified by recent exhibitions, publications and research projects which views the history of Latin American art in terms of reception, contact and collaboration.
The Call for Papers generated considerbale interest and over 100 applications were received by the deadline on May 5th 2009. These were narrowed down to 60 particpants who were divided into 9 panels. Each participant presented short papers as a basis for discussion within these panels. A team of internationally recognized Scholars were invited to participate as panel chairs and discussants alongside the co-convenors, Meeting Margins and The Permanent Seminarin Latin American Art.
Below are various documents in .pdf format, including the programme, abstracts of the 60 selected applicants, the official Forum poster and the original Call for Papers in English and Spanish.
