Issue Three
The papers in this special issue are the result of two events at the
University of Essex marking Brazil's quincentennial celebrations: a special
exhibition of Brazilian holdings from the University of Essex Collection
of Latin American Art (UECLAA) entitled Outros 500 and a conference of
the same name.
In a the first paper, Gabriela Salgado, the curator of UECLAA, explains
why Outros 500 was an apposite title for both events, and introduces conference
papers by art historian Michael Asbury, and two Brazilian artists whose
work is represented by UECLAA, Milton Machado and Cristina Pape.
