An Introduction to Summer Vacation
Accommodation
The majority of postgraduate students and a small number of
undergraduate students who have requested accommodation for the full
year will have a Letter of Allocation to mid September. Other
students will be required to vacate their accommodation at the end
of the academic year in June/July and to make a vacation booking if they
wish to be accommodated over the summer.
There are currently two tariffs relating to vacation accommodation. One tariff is for
lets over 4 weeks and is the same daily rate as the term-time rent. Term-time
conditions apply including the restriction on giving notice. The second tariff
relates to short-term accommodation of 4 weeks or less and is a higher daily
charge. On this tariff 3 days notice may be given.
All accommodation contracts end in mid-September to allow for cleaning and
essential maintenance work to be completed. There can be no extensions of
accommodation beyond this time.
However, students who are in University accommodation over the summer and
have accommodation the following academic year may remain in their current room
until their term-time room is ready. These students will be expected to move as
soon as they are notified in order that their vacation room can be prepared for
new students arriving.
