Forest Road House Forest Road House was built by the University of Essex although has been privately owned and managed since August 1998. The accommodation consists of 124 rooms within 2 blocks of 3 storey flats. Each flat contains up to 6 single rooms sharing a kitchen, bathroom (bath with shower over), and toilet. Single Plus rooms are in flats where a communal lounge is also provided. The flats are equipped with a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, iron, kettle, cooker, fridge, freezer, oven, hob, extractor and microwave. Food storage cupboards are provided in the kitchens and black rubbish sacks and toilet rolls are supplied. The communal areas are cleaned regularly, however students are responsible for their own room and dishwashing. Flats within Candan House each contain 4 or 5 single rooms sharing a kitchen, bathroom (bath with shower over), and toilet. Some flats also contain bedrooms with ensuite facilities. The flats are equipped with a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, iron, kettle, cooker, fridge, freezer, oven, hob, extractor and microwave.
