The Student Accommodation Accreditation Scheme
The scheme has been developed by the University of Essex and Colchester
Borough Council in consultation with Colchester Landlords Association for
Students and Staff (CLASS). The aim of the scheme is to improve the
overall standard of accommodation available to students.
All shared property advertised to students via the Accommodation Office
are accredited . The scheme offers properties which have been inspected and awarded a
certificate of accreditation, showing that they comply with the Accreditation
Standards:

probably on your computer already, but it is also available for free
from the

website). Note for visually-impaired users: Adobe provide
a free online tool which converts PDF files to a format which can be
used with screen-reading programs. This is available on the
Adobe Accessibility site.

Please note:
- At the time of awarding accreditation each property has met the standards
and landlords with accredited properties are expected to maintain these
standards throughout the year. If for any reason students find the standards
are not as described please contact the Accommodation Office who will
be pleased to investigate.
