Colchester campus:
Arrival Dates for New Students 2012/2013

Rooms are available to the majority of students on Sunday 30 September 2012. If you are unable to arrive on that day allocated rooms will be held for new undergraduate and new postgraduate students until mid-day on Tuesday 2 October 2012.

If students have not collected their keys by these dates or notified the Accommodation Office of their late arrival in writing it will be assumed that the room is no longer required and the room will be re-let.

Accommodation Availability

The earliest date that you are able to move into your accommodation is the date specified in your Letter of Allocation.  If you have a course start date earlier than 1 October 2012 you will receive a second letter of allocation indicating the date prior to 30 September in which you will be able to move into your accommodation. We regret that it is not possible to move in prior to this date.

Arrival by Car

The University and the residences will be sign-posted from the main routes into Colchester. As you approach the University, please follow the signs as detailed below.

If you are allocated to a room in the University Quays (Hawkins Quay, Mathews Quay and Sainty Quay) please follow signs marked:

All Other Residences’ and then
'University Quays'
  Your key collection point is the University Quays accommodation office located in Hawkins Quay House 1.

If you are allocated to a room on the North Campus[1] including William Morris, Rayleigh, Keynes and Tawney Towers, The Houses and Wolfson Court, once you have entered Elmstead Road please follow signs marked:
 
All Other Residences
and then' North Campus ’ or 'North Towers, Houses, and Wolfson Court
  Your Key collection point is the Main Accommodation Office. Please follow the signs marked ‘New Students Key collection (North campus)

If you are allocated to a room in the South Courts or South Towers[2] please follow signs marked:
 
South Courts and South Towers   Your Key collection point is the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall. Once you have entered Boundary Road please follow the signs marked ‘New Students Key collection (South campus)

If you are arriving on a day other than Sunday 30 September 2012 and you are allocated a room in either the North campus or South campus you should collect your keys from the Main Accommodation Office and follow signs marked 'All weekday arrivals' and 'Main Accommodation Office'.

Please note there will be a distance to walk from your car to your accommodation, so please make sure that your luggage is packed and labelled securely.  You will not be able to park your car directly outside your accommodation to unload.

You will be able to park in the car park whilst collecting keys for both the North and South campus locations. Once you have collected your key you should return to your car to unload. Staff and student helpers will be available to assist you to transport your luggage to your accommodation.

Other Transport

If you are flying to Heathrow or Gatwick airports please visit the pre-arrival guidance for international students section of the University website.  If you are travelling by train the Students Union expect to be operating a regular daytime minibus service from North Station to the campus on Sunday.  Further details should be available in the Freshers’ Handbook.
