Colchester campus:
Arrival Dates for New Students 2012/2013
Rooms are available to the majority of students on Sunday 30
September 2012.
If you are unable to arrive on that day allocated rooms will be held
for new undergraduate and new postgraduate students until mid-day on
Tuesday 2 October 2012.
If students have not collected their keys by these dates or notified the
Accommodation Office of their late arrival in writing it will be assumed that
the room is no longer required and the room will be re-let.
Accommodation Availability
The earliest date that you are able to
move into your accommodation is the date specified in your Letter of Allocation.
If you have a course start date earlier than 1 October 2012 you will
receive a second letter of allocation indicating the date prior to 30 September in
which you will be able to move into your accommodation. We regret that it is not
possible to move in prior to this date.

We hope you are looking forward to your new experience at
the University of Essex and I wish you a safe and pleasant journey to the
University.
Freshers' Welcome and Information Point
New student? Just arrived? Come along to the Freshers'
Welcome and Information Points in squares 2 and 3 and find
answers to your initial questions such as when and where to register, how to log
on to the campus computer network, what's happening in Freshers' Week, what
opportunities there are for working both on and off campus, what student
services are available on campus, what additional sources of financial support
may be available to you and information on paying your fees. Talk to current
students about life on campus and also benefit from their experience and campus
knowledge.
Bring along your family and friends and collect your complimentary bottle of
water and voucher for complimentary refreshments for both you and your family in
one of the catering outlets on campus, valid only on arrivals day.
Building Works
There are plans to further develop the campus in line with the University’s
expansion. There may, therefore, be building projects in progress on either
side of the campus. Every effort will be made to minimise noise or disruption
to students, especially those in the residences
we currently provide:*
