Information for New Students:
What You Need to Know
The University of Essex Colchester campus is currently able to accommodate
approximately 50% of
its student population in
residences within walking distance of teaching and
administrative buildings. In order to ensure that rooms are let as
fairly as possible an allocation policy is in place which is
reviewed annually in line with the university’s development.
All full-time fully registered undergraduate students studying at
both Colchester and Southend are
entitled to single accommodation for their first year of study.
On line applications are now available.
Students who are usually resident in the borough of Colchester are
welcome to apply for accommodation but are given a lower priority
and are excluded from the accommodation guarantee.
Undergraduate students should return their forms by
the
26th August 2011 in order to qualify for
their entitlement.
Colchester Institute: A small number of rooms are currently
provided at the University Quays for new undergraduate students
studying at Colchester Institute. Applications are made via the
Student Support Office at Colchester Institute. Please contact
