How to Apply for Accommodation (Families / Couples Only)

Currently all family and couple accommodation at the Colchester campus is fully allocated. Information regarding Private sector housing is available from StudentLets, the Students Union letting shop,  at: http://www.essexstudent.com/studentlets/

Family and couple accommodation application forms for new students to Essex studying at the Colchester campus will are available on line and applicants should complete and submit the relevant form as soon as possible marking their preferred locations in order. If your application is successful an offer of accommodation that matches your preferences as closely as possible will be made. Applicants must be prepared to accept one of the choices they have given on the application form. Please only tick those locations you would be prepared to accept.

To accept an offer of accommodation, the applicant should complete and return the acceptance slip together with a deposit of £250 which will be credited against the first rent instalment.

The offer will also include a contract  for you and your partner to sign. Both parties must sign and return the contract by the closing date specified.

You will not be able to collect the keys until the signed contracts have been received.

There is no guarantee that accommodation can be allocated and offers will be made as applications are received on a first come first served basis.

Once we receive the signed contracts you will be formally allocated to the unit and will receive a Notification of Account. Once you have been allocated a room, your deposit may only be refunded if you confirm in writing before the stipulated deadline (1 September 2012) that you do not intend to move into the accommodation or your academic application is rejected by the University. Please note that for all such refunds a £25 deduction will be made for administrative costs. After this date notice may not be given to leave accommodation and this means that you will be responsible for the rent until the end of your accommodation agreement.

Any student who moves into couple or family accommodation at any point during the year will not be entitled to apply again for future years. Further details on availability and eligibility are available here.

Please select the appropriate form from those below depending upon your accommodation requirements.
