Current availability information

This is the current accommodation situation at the University of Essex for undergraduate students who are still looking for a university place.

Colchester campus availability

• North Towers A = Full
• The Houses = Full
• South Courts = Full
• The Quays and all other areas = Very limited

This situation is subject to change and your first preference may not be available at the time of processing your application. In order to have the best opportunity to receive your first preference you should apply as soon as possible.

Southend Campus availability

Accommodation at our Southend Campus is available in our new purpose built student accommodation, University Square. Currently we have en-suite rooms available in this fantastic new development. Further details are available from our Southend accommodation web pages.

What you need to know:

Deadline

• The deadline for applications for University-provided accommodation is 11.59pm on Friday 24 August 2012.
• If you apply before the deadline and you are a new undergraduate, you will be guaranteed a room.
• After 24 August new undergraduates will still need to apply using the applicant portal. We will continue to offer rooms while we have availability, however we will not be able to guarantee a room for you in University accommodation.

If you miss the deadline

• We still have good availability in both Colchester and Southend campuses.  There is a good chance that you will be successful in securing accommodation, even  if you have not yet gone through clearing.
• You will still need to apply using the applicant portal, which will be available until 30th September 2012.
• Your application will automatically be put on a waiting list, please see our allocations policy for details.
• You will not need to use the online waiting list on our webpage which is aimed at returning students.

To apply:

• Accommodation applications are made online through your myEssex applicant portal.
• You must register on the applicant portal before you can apply.
• Please note that once you have registered on the portal it will take up to 72 hours before the link becomes available. The link to apply for accommodation can then be accessed through myLiving /myLife and Leisure.
