New students

Most students can apply for accommodation using our online application process. This is normally available through the myEssex Applicant Portal. All deadline dates for applications will be published on these pages.

Terms and conditions

If you are allocated accommodation you will enter into a legal contract with Accommodation Essex and you will be liable to pay the rent for your room for the period stated on your offer letter.
Please read our terms carefully before accepting any offer of accommodation:

Contact our Customer Services Team if you have any queries relating to accommodation applications.

How to apply

Your first year of study

Applications for new undergraduate students for 2015-16 open on 13 January 2015.

All full-time fully-registered undergraduate students studying at either our Colchester or Southend Campuses are entitled to accommodation for the first year of study as long as they return their application by the deadline date, Friday 21 August 2015. Students applying after this date will not be guaranteed accommodation.

Students that have chosen Essex as their insurance choice can apply for accommodation at Essex if they do not meet the requirements of their firm choice University, once they have become 'firm' with Essex. Accommodation is guaranteed if applications are received by the deadline date of Friday 21 August 2015.

The guarantee does not apply to other student categories, for more information please refer to our Allocations Policy.

It is important that you apply for accommodation as soon as you are able to. Even if we have passed the date by which we guarantee accommodation, our team may still be able to help you. If we are not able to offer you accommodation we will put you in contact with StudentLets, a property finding service run by the Students' Union.
